How being able to keep a positive attitude will help me throughout college and everyday life events. I chose to go to this event because I am having a difficult time keeping a positive attitude when I am overly stressed out. Having to go to work and school and is very difficult for me. With all the class assignment I have and the test it is very stressful when I barely have time to do any studying. When I barely have time I start to panic a lot and end up giving up and not caring if I finish my class work or not. Doing this will not get me anywhere in life, I don’t have a positive attitude at all and that needs to change ASAP. My expectations when I went to this event was to be able to get some advice on what I could do to help with all this negativity I have. Doing exercises like going to the gym or yoga is a great way to relax and keep my mind from all the negative stuff. It helps with keeping a positive attitude. Not over working myself also helps. I should take frequent breaks so I wont over work my brain and start getting ill mood from headaches and other such things. Do I plan to attend more events like the one I attended? Absolutely! This event really helped me with the trouble I was having. When these events are on days I have off I would happily go to them. You learn so much information from them and they are a great help with everyday life. They don’t only tell you things you need to know for school, but also things you can apply to everyday things in life. It relates to my ACA class because our teacher is always talking to us about how keeping a positive attitude makes things better. Don’t be bummed when you don’t get a good grade on a test. Just study harder next time and you’ll get the grade you want. |

I chose this activity because at some point in my life I would love to have a better career and pay. I would love to have better and more open opportunities in life with anything and everything I do. My expectations from this event was how could I prepare myself physically and mentally when the time came for me to get a better job. In the event they told us about how we should keep professional voicemails and how we should have a professional email account. To keep our personal and professional email account separately. When we wake up in the morning to always make sure that whatever we do to always act in a professional way since we never know who could be watching us or standing next to us. Always keep a resume with you, you never know when a job opportunity will show up and you always want to be ready for anything. I would attend another one of these activities if and when work does not intervene with the days we have our activities. These activities are very helpful and give great feedback on a lot of stuff. I can honestly say I learn a lot from them and they are fun to attend especially when you go with a group of your friends and you are interested in the same things. This activity relates to my ACA class because my teacher is always telling us about the elevator speech. You never know if the big boss is talking to you and for all you know he could be interviewing you and you don’t even know it. She always tells us to act professional everywhere we go and be respectful. That we can do and be anything we want if we work hard at it and set our minds to it |
Common ReadingWhen I was a child, growing up was somewhat difficult. I lived with my grandmother and mother most of my life. We had a two story house in Puerto Rico and we lived in a somewhat quiet neighborhood. I had all the attention to myself growing up. I was an only child and all my cousins lived a little distance away. I went to school like every other kid, but at the end of the day instead of coming home to a mother and father like most of my friends I came home to a mother and grandmother. My parents divorced when I was barely two years old, my mother moved from San Antonio Texas to Rio Grande Puerto Rico. That’s where my grandmother lives at. My mom was a single parent with a full time job and a full time college student. Monday through Fridays my days were mostly spend with my grandmother. She was always able to take me to her job. She worked on cleaning different peoples houses and making sure they were nice and clean with a meal cooked by the time the owners came back home for the day. It was always fun cleaning with her, tons of music was always playing. On the weekends it was always bonding time with my mom due to her being busy all week.
When we finally moved out of my grandmothers house I was ten and a half years old and ready to start a new life in the states. My mother quickly found a job at a bank and my school was right across the street from our new house. I loved feeling like a big kid since I was able to walk to school and walk back home everyday. As a kid I desperately wanted to be an adult and start doing things my way with my life. I knew my mother had huge expectations from me since she was the only person in my family to ever go to college and have a good career. But I had other things in mind that I wanted to do instead. I was never good when it came to school. It was very difficult to get good grades in any class but Spanish class and going to college was not my dream. My mother and I would argue constantly when it came to what I was going to do after graduating high school. She wanted me to go to college and I wanted to work two jobs and have freedom. In the end my mother won.I started going to school at craven community college. I am working hard on getting my associates degree. I plan on going to a four year college and getting some sort of degree in physical therapy. I can honestly say that I am more than happy that my mother won the battle. She has always known what was best for me and I couldn’t be any happier. In the next five years I plan on having my associates degree, getting a degree for a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant, starting my own little family with the man I have been with for almost three years now and living life to the fullest. |
